Narnia Inspiration...
I'm a creative...and the most difficult part of being a "creative" is trying to nail down and pick just one of hundreds of ideas floating around in your head. I have had a deep love for The Chronicles of Narnia ever since reading the books back in the 90's; long before the movies were ever made. The creative vision that C.S. Lewis had in telling the story of Narnia was so fascinating to me. The way he told the story and described things was soul touching for me. Then to see the movies much later and the creative vision in the costume designs and settings was equally compelling to my creative side.
I looked at the character Lucy and thought to myself wouldn't it be fun to create a composite photo and somehow capture that special connection that Lucy & Aslan had... Sure, there was a connection in some way with all the characters and Aslan but the relationship between Lucy and Aslan was different. After thinking about this composite photo shoot for a good year, it hit me... I had a little girl who was about the right age and whom had just chopped off her long, brown hair to the perfect length. It was time!
I searched high and low for a themed costume with very little luck as the movie had long since been out and wasn't all the rage. So I found a dress that would work and set out to figure out how to make it work. With an idea in my head, I found some fabric online and got some sewing supplies from a local craft store to make the cape I wanted to go with the dress. BUT, I had zero sewing skills...I mean ZERO!
This is where my best friend stepped in to help me out. I had an idea and a template and she helped me bring the cape to life by sewing it up for me. It was a super long process but it was so much fun. Below are a couple of the composite images from the Chronicles of Narnia photoshoot. Enjoy!
